our future's passed
and now
to think:
once,
we were afraid
of dieing.
standing outside, night on hillside
running with winged airplane arms
catching acid rain on our tongues
like toxic gumdrops; so fantastic.
it's so post-
beyond expectation.
we danced, passed the past,
and droned on forward.
passing forgotten towers.
nostrils on fire,
sniffing napalm flowers.
holding hands
missing fingers.
but
i never thought
the last time i saw you
would be
the last time i saw you
